Sept. 15 Greenock/Glasgow, Scotland

We were docked in Greenock when morning arrived; thrusters were fixed and we were on the bus and on our way down the wrong side of the road to Glasgow to explore the bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomond, Scotlands second largest freshwater lake. We visited the village of Luss for shopping and panoramic views of the Loch. Scotland is very green and healthy trees and bug free botanicals were everywhere. Our friendly kilted tour guide pointed out the location of the Canadian Forces in WW2. He spoke very fondly of Canada and the important role we played in this location. Some of the places we observed actually looked a lot like beautiful B.C.
There were stunning vistas of glens and mountains from an overlook and then we took a 20 minute ferry ride across the River Clyde. By then it was lightly raining or what the guide called "smattering" He said that was just enough of a mist to require the wipers. He was very knowledgeable and funny and even sang a few Scottish songs for us.
I looked hard everywhere i went in Scotland hoping to see Jamie and Claire from one of my favourite tv shows "Outlander" I didn't see them but i heard the bagpipes and the theme music drifting by on the smattering mist. The guide mentioned that some of the filming had been done nearby but he wasn't specific and nobody asked so I figured no fans of the show were on my bus so i had to let it go. Too bad as it's an incredible story from the best selling books of Diana Gabaldon and it's not too late to consider catching it this season.  If you didn't watch it and would like to catch up click here for a 14 minute quick recap of season 1 and you'll get the gist of what it's all about. Then maybe an internet search will get you the full shows of last season.

I would have loved seeing the castle from last seasons epic finale or any other film location but then everywhere looked like it could have been one of the locations so i'm ok with that, the essence of Scotland is in me now.

"Sing me a song of a lass that is gone....say, could that lass be i? Merry of soul she sailed on a day over the sea to Skye. Billow and breeze, islands and seas, mountains of rain and sun....
all that was good, all that was fair, all that was me is gone."

I was hoping to find Jamie, kidnap him and bring him home for my hairdresser Daniyell but it wasn't to be as they were presently off filming the show in Czechoslovakia. What the heck are they doing in Czechoslovakia.....i can't wait for this season to begin!

Meanwhile, back to reality on the ship, life goes on so i went to the Lido for a lunch of chicken, ham, cheese, Greek salad and several deserts. I then went to Club 6 and played Crazy Categories with two retired teachers and one of their husbands. We didn't win so i went to Princess Live to participate in afternoon trivia which i also didn't win. It was 5 questions each in several categories like sports, celebrities, music, history, space etc. Ship trivia is really challenging and so it should be or people wouldn't go, i know i wouldn't.
I returned to my cabin about 5p.m. and found my roomie in agony with plantar fasciitis. She made an apt. to see the Dr. and i went to the ship hospital with her for moral support. It was a busy little hospital. I hope the meds he gave her will fix it or at least help. We will be departing for Belfast, Ireland at 6:30p.m. tonight.

oops, the driver sits on the passenger side, lol.

the stripes are reflections of the top i was wearing

                                                whoa, those round-abouts are scary

                                                               The store in Luss

I am pretty sure Jamie or Claire travelled this way
