Make love not war

A brief moment captured in the mayhem between lines of riot police and a raging fire just beyond a photographer captures a moment in time that has gone viral.
An Aussie man and his Canadian girlfriend had left the game and in the chaos became separated momentarily. The girl was knocked down and her boyfriend rushed to her side and lay down beside her on the street to comfort her with a kiss. The photographer was quick as a moment later they were upright. They were not making out as has been reported, there wasn't time! The photographer didn't know what he had until he saw it later at home.
Photoshoppers had fun playing with this romantic image, myself included. Enjoy the greatest photo from Wednesday.

This is the original photo by Rich Lam

Lorraina, I heard that version too--the supposedly true version--but they look awfully entwined for such a supposedly brief moment of comfort. Of course, I could be wrong, but even if I'm not, at least they weren't out destroying property and fighting with the police.

Theres videos of it on youtube. I'd bring it here but don't know how to do it anymore. The one i watched was a woman stuck in a parkade and this going on in the street a few floors below. You can tell it's genuine as the lady was frantically calling someone and the vid is all sideways, moving too fast and such. At the very least i do remember seeing in the vid that people came quickly and gathered around to see if the girl needed help. The photo would have had at least some or all those people in it, but there isn't any so that's how i felt the encounter was very brief.
They are a couple living tog. so don't think they needed to make out there on a busy street in the town her family lives in.

Thanks Bunny. I've gotten some family flack re the definition of "a moment" also exactly what "making out" means. I think making out is quite a bit more than what this couple did but thats just me and my take on it.
The photographer was very quick although he said he didn't know what happened, just thought people were down and worth a shot; he took one then moved slightly to get the policeman in the foreground. In any case it's an amazing pic considering what else was going on in that.....ok i'll say it again...moment.

well...I must say, I'll fall down to have someone kiss me that way.

Me too Catz. My problem is that often i forget to even take the camera and of course that's when i see what would be a great shot, like last Sunday coming out of Tswasssen i glanced over to the mountains and Mt. Baker was magnificent in all it's glory in the late afternoon sun.

Myriam i bet you won't have to fall down for romance and kisses!
Just stand tall and one day it'll happen to you, like straight out of a story book when you least expect it.
