Oct. 13, 2018 Sea day

I was up and about a little earlier than usual this morning, went for breakfast in the Garden buffet, ate my fav muesli and fruits and returned to my room because i got cold in there, dam ac is always too cold for me on a ship yet i keep coming back and riding on them!

My high stakes slot pull was held this morning with 10 people entering @ $100. each. So 10 hits @ $10. per hit. It was so exciting because i'm a wimp and have never played such high stakes before. I was #8 player and i got only 3 paying lines and one was a $30. win and the others were only a buck or two. One or two players hit something over $100. and several had smaller wins but wins that added to our total. In the end we each got $85. back out of it so we spent a total of just $15. each for all that anticipation and fun. And they decided to do it again if at least 10 people want in. Of course i said YES right away so stay tuned for the results coming up in a couple days and maybe you’ll read that i've become rich!
I then tried a different penny machine for $20 and won $60. I went to the “How to improve your memory” seminar with the same Las Vegas guy who did the card tricks last night. When that was over and i couldn’t remember anymore than nothing much and i had a 30 min break before the movie started. I went back into the casino and turned a $20. into $40. which was good as i’m finally in another little winning phase.

The movie was Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho from 1960. It was kind of weird watching an old movie in the showroom but the sound effects were awesome! It took me awhile to figure out the sounds we were hearing and thought was in the movie soundtrack weren’t. The noise started just as it was raining (in the movie)and it started sounding like thunder but there was no lightening. I kinda snickered to myself thinking how corny old movies were with such crappy sound effects. What we were hearing sounded like a lot of thunder and with the Bates Motel highlighted late at night with that spooky house on the hill i wondered several times why is there thunder but no lightening which always makes for a more scary effect. Then i heard a couple people in the audience say things like “what is that sound.”?
Eventually the scene changed from a dark and rainy night to a sunny day in the city (or whatever) and there was that sound of thunder and like a stormy dark spooky night again. What the heck.......and then realized as probably everyone else did in that instant too that it was the sound of the waves smashing against our ship and along with that the sounds of a storm. So the movie ended and when i left the theatre and went into the hallway with huge windows i could see that the waves were actually quite mild and so the whole thing was that it had been just the wind that whistles through the vents in the ceilings. Those added sound effects made for a much better movie.

In between all this i went to the front desk and got a printout of my expenses so far. I was surprised to see 6 entries for $1.10 at the arcade. My first thought was hey, i didn’t go to the arcade! Then i clued in it was referring to that stupid “ squash a penny” machine. Yes, i had tried it 6 times over a period of 10 days or something but still haven’t got a squashed penny to keep as a lucky piece. I thought i had read the instructions correctly and had carefully followed them step by step and no flattened penny came out ever. So i was telling this to a guy at dinner and he asked if i had cranked the handle. I said “huh?” it didn’t say to crank the handle so i didn’t do it. I just kept at it every time i went by and i’d scan my card because that’s what the instructions said to do, choose the design i wanted and wait and that machine would only say “scan your card” again and again so i’d just walk away. Now, either some people tried it and were rewarded with 2 pennies or 6 or whatever i don’t know.
I went to the buffet for dinner and met my roommate Annie walking through. She had already eaten but sat with me while i ate and then she then departed for the class or whatever she was going to and i got my dessert (s) and sat with Dusty and her husband Larry and another man named Joe for awhile and we had a nice conversation and then retired to our cabins.

I can't find any pics for today but I know I have some. As I said before my pictures are  hopelessly mixed up on some dates and have been a  nightmare to organize. Now for tomorrows excursion I have way too many and would have placed some, even half of them here but it seemed stupid considering the events wouldn't co-ordinate.
If anyone wants some advice don't ever use 2 picture cards trading off back and forth in order to keep things organized. It doesn't work!
